Use the Resource Room

The Resource Room is equipped with state of the art computers for self-service but staff assistance is available for resume development and basic computer instruction. Access the internet for job search activities, use tutorials, research labor market information and newspapers plus more! The Resource Rooms provide a wealth of job search information in one convenient location.

Customized Employment

Employment services are available to individuals with significant disabilities through the Tennessee Customized Employment Partnership (TCEP) at the Career Center in Chattanooga.  Groups targeted for these services are youth who are making the transition from schools and individuals awaiting services or who are presently being served in sheltered workshops and desire employment in the community.  Services and employment supports include:  self-determination and advocacy, person-centered planning, work-based experiences, job development, job carving, job coaching and accessible computer technology.  Additional information is available at 423-643-2328 or  http://www.TCEPonline.org.

Accessible Computer Technology

Accessible computer technology is available to assist persons with disabilities in their job search activities in the career centers in Chattanooga, Athens, Cleveland, Dayton, Dunlap, and Kimball. The Disability Accessible Workstations are adjustable to allow easy wheelchair access and keyboard positioning. Each has special assistive software that is helpful to persons who are challenged by:

  • low vision or blindness,
  • learning disabilities,
  • physical or mobility impairments, or
  • deafness or hearing impairments.

Career Guidance

Do you have a plan? At the Southeast Tennessee Career Centers, you can meet individually or in groups to obtain career guidance. Learn how to set goals and develop a personal plan of action. Learn what jobs are available in the local area and beyond as well as job growth trends and forecasts. You can also learn how to apply for financial aid to assist you in attending a training institution.

Want to know where you are? Learn about your interests, aptitude, basic skills, work values, personality and more. Assessments may be self-service or staff assisted, and they may be by pencil and paper or computer based. To know where you are will help you know where you can go!

Your local Southeast Tennessee Career Center is the gateway to many more services to assist you in finding a job. You may want to attend a professionally conducted workshop, receive information on filing of unemployment insurance or public assistance, get information on applying for a General Equivalency Diploma or apply for a Pell grant.
